HMM Algeciras sails to Antwerp

The largest containership in the world HMM Algeciras sails to the port of Antwerp on June 11th. So it enters in the area of Joint Nautical Management. The HMM Algeciras, the first ship of this series, was expected at 13:00 at the Steenbank pilot station.

According to the Joint Announcement (03-2017), the Joint Nautical Authority requested all vessel data and discussed with both the Dutch and Flemish pilot organizations and Flanders Hydraulics Research.

Together they concluded that the HMM Algeciras could proceed its voyage to Antwerp without additional simulator research ibecause it corresponds to the ships of the same dimensions already sailing to Antwerp. The June 11 trip (and the return trip, scheduled for June 13) is a maiden trip. From the traffic centers, this ship will also become Vessel Traffic services.
After this trip there will be an evaluation of these conditions are sufficient or that additional conditions may have to be imposed for this type of vessels.
